Permanent collection of Old Masters: The Alte Pinakothek is one of the largest and most beautiful painting galleries in the world. It was commissioned by King Ludwig I, designed by the architect Leo von Klenze and built between 1826 and 1836. The collection unites previous galleries of various branches of the Wittelsbach family.
